Originally called Palm Beach, an early resort catering to the very wealthy. West Palm Beach grew as a bedroom community for the resort workers. Bahamian immigrants also arrived and joined with locals.
Palm Beach County is still an important agricultural producer, with a lot of undeveloped land along the north side of the county. Many migrant workers live near the fields.
West Palm Beach is the northern end of the Tri-Rail commuter train route, which runs south to Miami.
Boca Raton, Delray Beach and Hutchinson Island on the Atlantic Coast are among the largest communities.
Interstate highway I-95, the Sunshine State Parkway, plus US highways 1 and 441 run through Palm Beach County
Free parking just a block down from the Boardwalk. Closed 11 PM to 5 AM so can do a day-camp here. Sits on elevated bluff so fantastic view of cars on beach and Atlantic Ocean beyond.. Showers, grills and tables for picnics and cleaning up, play area for kids also.
Community center and lifeguard headquarters on one side, clean restrooms on other. Bus stop in front of park if you’d rather ride along the Boardwalk.
It’s Columbus Day in the USA. There is no mail delivery today, yet some banks are open and some are closed. Government offices are closed.

Instead he crossed the Atlantic Ocean and supposedly made landfall in the Bahamas, on an island now named San Salvador.
The Seattle school district has come up with the silly idea of renaming this day Indigenous People’s day. Silliness indeed.
